At Home Technologies New York City

I’ve been blogging for a new business based in New York City called At Home Technologies for three weeks. I designed the logo and built the website and then, when they needed more site traffic, offered to do a daily blog post. It’s my first experience as a professional blogger and I’ve learned quite a bit about the fields of accessibility, aging in place, technologies for caregivers, universal design, etc. Designing cities for people to stay in their homes as long as people is a subject now being talked about by urban planners and aging experts. There’s also the subject of disabilities – how do we make our homes, businesses, and environments accessible for anyone that may come through the door? And more than that, our websites, technology, even language. Perhaps the concept of “universal design” can be applied to more than just ability, but also to global communication and understanding. A relevant topic for a professional communicator and graphic designer indeed!
